Personal Skills and Experience
Stewart has worked as a professional actor for 25 years and has worked with many of Scotland’s best theatre companies. He was a founder member of Benchtours Theatre Ensemble, and between 1990 and 2003, was involved in the writing and devising of most of their shows. He has taught devised theatre skills throughout the UK, Europe, East Africa and India.
For 4 years Stewart was a Specialist Advisor in Drama for the Scottish Arts Council and a performance reviewer for the National Council for Drama Training.
Stewart is also a writer; he was a recipient of one of the first Playwrights Studio Scotland IGNITE Awards, has had plays produced at The Arches Theatre and at the Edinburgh Fringe. He has also had several short stories published, most recently in the BBC’s Days Like These, and in the new Scottish literary magazine, GUTTER Mag.
Stewart recently received a scholarship to study an MA in Television Fiction Writing at Glasgow Caledonian University.
